The murder trial against former Jozi FM DJ Donald Sebolai is expected to continue in the South Gauteng High Court sitting in Palm Ridge on Monday morning, with more witnesses expected to testify.

Witness denies sexual relationship with Sebolai

11h45 – The seventh witness in the murder trial against former Jozi FM DJ Donald Sebolai, Nhlanhla Mkhize on Monday denied having being involved in a sexual relationship with the accused.

Mkhize who was a close friend to Dolly Tshabalala, who was stabbed to death in her flat in Jabulani, Soweto last year, is being cross examined in the South Gauteng High Court sitting in Palm Ridge.

The defence counsel put it to the witness that her alleged relationship with the accused caused a strive between the accused and the deceased, but the state counsel objected.

The accused through his defence, said he will testify that he had been in a physical relationship with the witness and the deceased.

“Nhlanhla I killed Dolly”, seventh witness tells court

11h15 – “Nhlanhla, I killed Dolly,” were the first words from murder accused Donald Sebolai when he called his slain girlfriend Dolly Tshabalala’s friend, Nhlanhla Mkhize, the South Gauteng High Court sitting in Palm Ridge heard on Monday morning.

Mkhize is the seventh witness testifying in the murder trial against Sebolai, a former DJ at Jozi FM. During cross examination, Mkhize said the call she received from the accused, was made through the deceased’s cellphone.

“I then tried calling the accused back on his private number and he was not answering but he eventually answered and I told him I was on my way to a certain BP garage where we should meet so we could get Dolly to hospital because I did not think she was dead.

“I received the first call from Donald at around 6.30am on the morning  of June 29, 2014,” Mkhize said.

Trial postponed for 10 minutes

10h40 – The murder trial against former Jozi FM DJ Donald Sebolai has been  adjourned for about ten minutes in the South Gauteng High Court sitting in Palm Ridge.

Earlier, the first witness, believed to be Sebolai’s slain girlfriend Dolly Tshabalala’s best friend Nhlanhla Mkhize was late and could not be seen with the state counsel saying attempts to get hold of her were futile and her cellphone was off.

Sebolai is facing charges of murder, theft of a motor vehicle as well as defeating the administration of justice.
