Three men accused of robbing a shop owner at gunpoint are expected to appear in the Morokweng Periodical Court near Ganyesa on Thursday, North West police said.

Sergeant Kealeboga Molale said the men, aged between 20 and 22, allegedly made off with undisclosed amount of money on Tuesday. “It is alleged that the suspects entered an Ethiopian shop and pointed the owner with a firearm and demanded cash on Tuesday. The suspects also demanded a cellphone before blind-folding and tying the owner with a rope.”

The three then fled the scene on foot, Molale said. “The police were alerted and managed to apprehend the suspects in the area. Undisclosed amount of cash, one cell phone, cigarettes and prepaid air time vouchers were recovered.”

They have been charged with armed robbery.
