The Mall’s Kerry Phillips confirmed the incident.
The Mall management posted a statement on the centre’s website in which it said the incident happened on Wednesday afternoon.
“On the afternoon of June 10, at approximately 14:45, a customer fell at Nelson Mandela Square.
“The customer was immediately transported to hospital and is receiving medical treatment for her injuries,” the statement read.
The daughter (who did not want to be named) of the injured woman said her mother’s hip was hurt.
“There are carpets that I think are used to cover cables during construction.”
She said her mother got her foot underneath the carpet and she fell forward.
She also added that her mother landed down the floor with her hip, which was fractured as a result and that she was going in for surgery.
