Major Thulani Zwane said Scebi Cyprian Ndlovu, 20, and Sanele Ngcobo, 22, were sentenced on Wednesday.
Ndlovu was sentenced to seven life terms for seven counts of rape, and his co-accused, Ngcobo, received five life sentences for five counts of rape, and a further 12 months for theft of a cellphone, Zwane said.
He said an 18-year-old woman was on her way home when she was confronted by the men at knife point on April 19, 2014.
“They forced her into nearby bushes where she was repeatedly raped by both accused. A case of rape was opened at Inchanga police station for further investigation,” said Zwane.
He said the two were arrested and charged after some time of investigating. “They appeared in court on several occasions until they were convicted and sentenced by the Pietermaritzburg High Court yesterday.”
