Two individuals were arrested in Kanana near Klerksdorp in connection with the murder of a homeless teenager, North West police said on Thursday.

“The suspects are both aged 14 and residing in Kanana. They are detained in Bosassa and are expected to appear in Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on Friday,” said Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko.

The victim, a 15-year-old boy only known as Thabang, was killed during a fight over porridge.

“It is alleged that the suspects demanded the soft porridge and an argument ensued among them. One of them…stabbed the victim with it [a knife] on the neck,” said Moleko.

“It is alleged that the victim fell down, bled profusely and the two suspects fled the scene.”

One of the teenagers ran to the Klerksdorp hospital not far from the scene to seek medical assistance.

“The Emergency Medical Services attended to the scene and the victim was certified dead,” said Moleko.
