Officers arrested a taxi driver for driving on the wrong side of the road along Jan Smuts Avenue in Randburg, on Wednesday, reported Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson, Wayne Minnaar in a statement.

“This brings the total number to fifteen arrests of errand drivers since the start of the JMPD operation last Friday,” said Minnaar.

Minnaar said six traffic fines of R500 each were given to taxi drivers who ignored directional arrows. “One unroadworthy taxi was taken off the road when a discontinue notice was given for it to be taken for repairs, before a vehicle license could be issued to it,” said Minnaar
