Man arrested for stolen Eskom cables worth R500 000

A man was was caught with Eskom cables worth R500,000 in Kibler Park,GAUTENG, reported Johannesburg Metro Police.

JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said: “The suspect in his thirties was caught redhanded on Saturday with copper cable already loaded onto a small truck. The cable with an estimated value of about R500,000 belongs to Eskom.”

Minnaar said the cable was dug up in the Kibler Park area and was going to be sold to a scrapyard dealer when the suspect got arrested, while two others who were in a separate vehicle managed to escape.

The suspect would appear in theJOBURG Magistrates Court soon for being in possession of stolen property.
