Boy, 3, falls from Jo’burg building

Johannesburg Emergency Services Management spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi confirmed the death of a 3-year-old boy who fell from the 5th floor of the BMV building on Joubert street in the Johannesburg CBD.

Mulaudzi said the toddler was playing with other children when he fell into the elevator carriage and fell to the ground floor.

He said the parents said they had been not monitoring the child when he fell into the carriage.

Paramedics arrived for assistance, but the little boy died on the scene.

ER24 spokesperson Pieter Rossouw said when they arrived at the scene, the boy had already passed.

Police and emergency services are still on the scene.
