Over 30 000 jobs lost in SA mines

Over 30 000 jobs have been lost in South African mines between 2012 and 2014, the National Union of Mineworkers said on Friday.

“In the gold sector 10,650 jobs were lost, platinum mines cut 16,400 jobs,”said general secretary Frans Baleni.

He said coal and small diamonds mines cut down 4,900 jobs.
