A committee would be established to handle the report by Police Minister Nhleko on security upgrades at President Jacob Zuma’s private home in Nkandla, Parliament said on Thursday.

”The Speaker [Baleka Mbete] has received inquiries regarding the Minister of Police’ report on Nkandla,” Parliament said in a statement.

”In anticipation of the report, the process towards the establishment of an ad hoc committee to consider the report is underway.”

Last year, public protector Thuli Madonsela found that President Jacob Zuma and his family had benefited from non-security upgrades to his private home.

Madonsela recommended he pay back some of the money spent on the upgrades. Zuma ordered Nhleko to decide if the president can be held accountable for the debacle. Having completed his report, Nhleko awaited direction from Mbete as to when he should release his report in Parliament.
