Police investigations are still ongoing after a 17-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped in Elsburg, near Germiston, on the East Rand.

The teenager was allegedly abducted by four unknown men driving in a taxi at about 4.30pm on April 7. Elsburg police spokesperson Constable Daphney Phooko said the girl was on her way home after getting off a train at the Elsburg Train Station. While walking home, she was allegedly abducted, Germiston City News reported

“It is also alleged that they drove to the Delmore informal settlement, where the actual rape was committed. She was raped by all four men, who did not use condoms,” she said.

Phooko added after the alleged rape, the suspects drove to another location, where the driver took out a firearm, pointed it at the victim and threatened to kill her.

“She had apparently spoken to one of the suspects before, when he proposed a relationship with her,” Phooko said.

An unknown man then reportedly came to her rescue and confronted the suspects. A fight broke out between the men, and the girl managed to escape.

“The suspects are still at large, and the Elsburg police are appealing to anybody with information which could lead to their arrest and prosecution to come forward, including the man who rescued the victim,” Phooko added.

Last month, a 15-year-old schoolgirl was allegedly kidnapped and raped while on her way to school in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal.

Police said the teenager was abducted by three men she allegedly knew. The suspects then took her to one of their homes, where she was allegedly assaulted and raped. One of the suspects also then locked the young girl in the house.
