A driver has been seriously injured after she lost control of her vehicle and it overturned on Blundell Road in Durban’s Queensburgh area at about 9.30am today.

Paramedics arrived on the scene to find the badly damaged vehicle in the road, according to Rescue Care operations director Garrith Jamieson.

“Paramedics found the driver seriously injured and trapped in the wreckage. Advanced life support paramedics stabilised the patient in the vehicle before the fire department utilised the “Jaws of Life” to cut her out,” said Jamieson.

“Once the patient was cut free she was placed on a specialised spinal board before being transported by Rescue Care to a nearby private facility.”

He added police would be investigating further.
