Two people have died, while two others were critically injured, after a vehicle overturned on the R24 in Magaliesberg early this morning.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said exact details of the cause of the accident were still speculative. However, the vehicle veered off the road, overturned and came to rest in the veld.

“Netcare 911 and the provincial paramedics arrived at the scene and found that the four occupants from the vehicle had been ejected from the wreckage. After triaging it was found that a man had tragically died on impact, while three others were critically injured. A female went into cardiac arrest, and medics worked fervently to resuscitate her. Tragically, despite their efforts, she was declared dead at the scene,” said Botha.

“After medics stabilised the critically wounded men, they transported them to nearby hospitals under the constant care of advanced life support paramedics.”

In a separate accident, a man was killed last night after he was hit by a car on the N14 near Beyers Naude Drive, in Muldersdrift

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene and found the patient lying in the fast lane of the road. The car had parked a few metres away on the side of the road.

On assessment, paramedics found that the patient had sustained multiple fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for the patients, and he was declared dead on the scene.

The driver of the vehicle fortunately did not sustain any injuries.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
