A 41-year-old man is expected to appear in the Willowvale Magistrate’s Court on Monday in connection with the rape of a six-year-old girl, Eastern Cape police said.

The six-year-old’s mother noticed on Friday that there was something wrong with her daughter when she returned from school, Captain Jackson Manatha said on Sunday.

“The mother enquired from the victim and she was told by her daughter that she was raped by local man on Friday 20 March 2015 at about 3pm as she was from school on her way home at Komkhulu location, Nqadu village Willowvale,” he said.

A case of rape was opened at the Willowvale police station on Friday and the man was arrested the same day.
