Cosatu secretary general Zwelinzima Vavi says he hopes that one day the ANC-led alliance partner leadership will go to the graves of JB Marks and Moses Kotane and says they are sorry to have allowed things to fall apart.

Speaking during the reburial of Marks’ mortal remains in Ventersdorp, North West, Vavi said a lot more work needs to be done in avoiding a catastrophe of a Cosatu split.

“There are real issues that have to be addressed…the crisis of unemployment has to be tackled and it is not about us as leaders.

“How dare we no longer fight the struggle of inequality,” Vavi said.

He said the embattled Cosatu has directly undermined the good work of Marks.

Marks’ grandson Roswyn described him as an honest man who believed in equality.

President Jacob Zuma is expected to deliver the keynote address.
