His arrested came after police received an anonymous tip about alleged drug dealing happening at a block of flats in the area. Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Hero Gumbu said police arrived at the scene and searched the 32-year-old man’s flat at about 4pm but found nothing.

“[Officers] proceeded to his garage and found a bulk of fake notes,” Gumbu said. According to Gumbu, police recovered an estimated R2.4 million in fake R200 notes and an additional R4.2 million in counterfeit R100 notes.

Further investigations are currently underway and the arrested suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
