Calvin Meshack Mbuyane, 52, would remain in custody until his next appearance on Monday, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said.

“Mbuyane, employed as a general gunsmith labourer, was allegedly altering firearms, as numerous hand tools were found at his house as well as visible alterations to pieces of firearms found in his possession.”

Mbuyane allegedly supplied rhino poachers with ammunition and repaired their weapons. He was arrested on Tuesday after his employer notified police that he suspected Mbuyane was stealing ammunition from him.

His suspicions were apparently confirmed by CCTV footage.
