A screen grab from CCTV footage show a motorcycle allegedly involved in a hit and run incident which has left a school girl injured.

Video footage showing an apparent hit and run accident in Lyttelton Manor, Centurion has surfaced.

Footage captured on Monday shows a 14-year-old girl getting run over by a motorcycle as she crosses an intersection. The incident was captured by three CCTV cameras in different locations, Rekord Centurion reported.

The motorcyclist is seen speeding away after the accident.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann said paramedics arrived at the scene and found the girl lying in the road.

“Upon assessment it was found that the young girl had sustained critical injuries,” Steinmann said.

The girl was then treated at the scene and later rushed to hospital for urgent medical care.

In December last year, a nine-year-old girl was critically injured after being hit by a car in Pietermaritzburg. Paramedics arrived at the scene and found residents performing basic first aid on the child, whose vital signs were rapidly diminishing.

After stabilising the girl, paramedics rushed her to Greys Hospital. The driver of the vehicle that hit the child had apparently fled the scene.
