People are slowly making their way. Some of the buses arriving are empty.

Security is tight outside the venue where the rally is scheduled to take place today. Police are monitoring the event.

Most buses are late.

Suspended EFF MP Andile Mngxitama said yesterday there was massive intimidation on the ground to try and stop people from coming to the rally.

“They have told the lower structures to do everything in their power to stop people from coming here,” said Mngxitama.

“Does this mean they are going to stop buses through violence?”

Mngxitama was suspennded this week along with Mpho Ramakatsa, Khanyisile Litchfield-Tshabalala and Lucky Twala for bringing the party into disrepute.

Inside the sports complex, a small group of people wearing red T-shirts and berets jokes among themselves.

Mngxitama is expected to deliver a keynote address.
