8 Joburg speedsters arrested

Eight men were arrested for speeding in Johannesburg on Saturday, metro police said.

“A 37-year-old male in a BMW X3 was arrested on the N1 North near the 14th Avenue offramp for driving at 184km in a 120km per hour zone,” Chief-Supt Wayne Minnaar said.

“He was charged for reckless and negligent driving at Honeydew police station and was released on R1500 bail.”

Another seven motorists were arrested for speeding on the Golden Highway near Lenasia South in a 60km per hour zone.

“The two highest speeds were a 30-year-old male from Midrand in a Mercedes Benz driving 122km per hour, and a 32-year-old male from Ruimsig, also driving 122km per hour in a Polo.”
