5FM DJ Sol Phenduka suspended

5FM suspended DJ Sol Phenduka following comments he made about the Van Breda family who were hacked to death in Stellenbosch.

According to The Guide Online Magazine, Sol said that Marli van Breda, the only 16-year-old survivor of the attack,  was “gorgeous” and he would “like to axe her out,” but that he “wouldn’t  X her”.

Sol took to Twitter to apologise for his comments, saying it wasn’t “the intention to offend”.

The Van Breda family was killed in their home in De Zalze Golf Estate, Stellenbosch, on Tuesday morning.

It is believed the father (55), mother (54) and 22-year-old son were victims of this attack.

Marli is the only survivor of the attack.

5FM also took to Twitter to condemn Sol’s remarks.

 

The station tweeted that it suspended two “members of the team” and has decided that the show, Fresh & Vrot, “will be the last”.
