He and his colleagues were checking up on a burglar alarm that went off at a house in the area when the incident happened, said Warrant Officer Daniel Mavimbela.
“They spotted two suspects. One of the suspects allegedly fired a handgun, wounding the 29-year-old man on the upper body,” said Mavimbela.
The police were called to the scene and a search was conducted throughout the neighbourhood.
One suspected gunman was caught with an unlicenced firearm.
He was arrested and faces a charge of attempted murder and the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
He is expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
“A manhunt has been launched for the second suspect,” said Mavimbela.
