They were arrested on Friday after police discovered counterfeit notes with an estimated street value of R900 during a stop and search routine, Warrant Officer Daniel Mavimbela said.
“Further investigations led the police to a guest house in Malibongwe Road, north of Lanseria airport. On arrival, the police found a further amount of about fourteen thousand rands (R14 000), also made up of alleged fake one hundred rand notes.”
More notes were found on A5 and A4 printouts.
Laptops, hard drives, ink and a printer were also recovered.
“We are appealing to businesses and members of the public observe bank notes carefully when involved in cash transactions or receive cash from other persons,” Mavimbela said.
The 35-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman would appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of production and possession of counterfeit money.
