Foetus found in Free State sewerage pipe

A foetus believed to be between two to three months old has been found in a sewerage pipe in the Thabong informal settlement, Welkom, Free State police said on Monday.

A municipal worker found the foetus while attending to a blocked pipe in the Joe Slovo Road settlement around 11am, spokesman Warrant Officer Malebo Khosana said.

They foetus was one of the objects blocking the pipe. A case of concealment of birth was opened. No arrests had yet been made.
