Two teenagers were arrested for allegedly robbing a shop in Zola, Soweto, on Thursday with a toy gun, Gauteng police said.

Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said the two allegedly pointed the toy pistol at the shop owner and took an undisclosed amount of money, prepaid airtime vouchers and cigarettes.

“We the police arrived at the scene [and]… found out that the gun the suspects used was a toy gun.”

The two were arrested and would appear in the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Monday to face a charge of business robbery.
