Police spokesperson Constable Jacob Nhlongo said community members reported that the suspect went to the alleged lover’s room and beat him up with a steel rod on Tuesday night, Midrand Reporter reported.

It was alleged that the community members stopped the man from beating the victim further, before rushing the victim to Tembisa Hospital with severe injuries.

Nhlongo said the suspect heard from his friends that the victim was always seen with the suspect’s girlfriend, and that they were lovers.

Nothing has been reported about the woman believed to have had an affair with the victim, Nhlongi added.

The suspect will appear in the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court soon.

In a separate incident, a Mamelodi taxi driver Hans Isaacs was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for killing his common-law wife’s lover Chris Sibanda earlier this year.

Judge Thokozile Masipa also found Isaacs guilty of attempting to murder his common-law wife Virginia Ramodike, and setting Sibanda’s room alight.
