“Shortly before midnight [on Friday] paramedics attended the incident and found five people scattered across the area,” ER24 said.

“Concerned motorists that stopped on the scene explained to paramedics that the bakkie overturned ejecting three people from the back before it crashed over the barrier and landed on a wall near the local cemetery.”

Two other men were found near the bakkie, while one of the passengers was in a critical condition and taken to a nearby hospital. It was believed the man had sustained multiple head injuries.

“It appears as if all the men that were killed are in their early 30s,” ER24 said. “They all sustained multiple fatal injuries and [were] declared dead on the scene.”

The cause of the accident was not known. Police were investigating.
