KwaDabeka police are investigating a case of murder after two police officers were found dead in Clermont, KwaZulu-Natal.

Tenants in the building where the pair were found said they heard four gun shots at about 9.30pm on Wednesday, Highway Mail reported.

“At first I thought it was fireworks, but realised that the sound was too loud. After some time I looked outside and saw nothing suspicious on the roads,” said one of the tenants.

Police were called to the scene after tenants suspected that there was something wrong, as the couple did not answer.

The unidentified couple, described as “nice people”, was later found dead.

Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said circumstances surrounding the incident were being investigated.

In a separate incident, a couple was found dead in their smallholding in Mooiplaats, Boschkop in the east of Pretoria earlier this year.

The couple’s son, who was staying with them, left the house early for business and returned in the afternoon where he found his parents dead in the house.

Nothing was stolen and there was no sign of forced entry.
