“Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at West Riding Row street in Sherwood at around 10.30pm [on Tuesday] and found a very gravely injured man with multiple stab wounds and abrasions from allegedly being dragged along a road,” Netcare spokesman Chris Botha said.

“Soon after we arrived at the scene the patient went into cardiac arrest and paramedics worked fervently to resuscitate the man, tragically though despite all their efforts he died at the scene.”

Provincial police spokesman Major Thulani Zwane confirmed that a case of murder was opened at the Sydenham police station on Tuesday night.

He said a 20-year-old man was stabbed to death.

“The motive for his killing is unknown and the police are still investigating,” said Zwane.
