Power utility Eskom continues to trend on social network Twitter, as frustrations run high following the announcement that power cuts could be experienced this week.

This after the collapse of a coal storage silo at Eskom’s Majuba power station in Mpumalanga on Saturday.

Eskom said the silo, which houses over 10 000 tons of coal, had cracked on Saturday, impacting coal supplies to all six units at the power station.

This spawned the Twitter trend #ThingsEskomWouldCallACrack

With #loadshedding and #Eskom also trending today, the power utility said: “Eskom is not load shedding today as additional units have returned. If you’re experiencing power outage contact your electricity provider.”

Some residents claimed to have experienced loadshedding, while others improvised while in the dark.
