Joburg man dies in stabbing incident

Moffatview police have arrested a suspect after a 31-year-old man died following a stabbing incident in South Hills, Johannesburg.

The victim had allegedly tried to stab the suspect first. The suspect was said to have ran away and came back with his own knife, stabbing the victim once, Comaro Chronicle reported.

The suspect was later arrested.

DA councillor Faeeza Chame said “concerted measures” would be put in place to avoid such incidents as the festive season approaches.

“As the council, we discourage such behaviour among young people and we encourage them to live in harmony and unity,” said Chame.

“I wish to send my condolences to the family of the deceased; sadly he leaves behind an eight-year-old boy.”

In a separate incident, a 28-year-old man handed himself to police after allegedly stabbing his friend once in the upper body.

Sibusiso Nala (30) had been stabbed to death by a friend at the Calcium Building in the Johannesburg CBD in September, according to police.

It was alleged that the two had an argument concerning a phone that was missing.

They started to fight, and the suspect took out a knife and stabbed him. The suspect was later arrested in Alexandra.
