A man has been arrested and is due to appear in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court for the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said the victim’s mother had stumbled upon the man raping her daughter, Alex News reported.

The Alexandra mother had become frustrated when she could not find her daughter.

She reportedly proceeded to her daughter’s friend’s homes, and was later given an address to a house where the child was.

The mother went to the address, knocked on the door and after pushing the door open, she allegedly discovered a naked man with her daughter.

Police said the mother had asked her daughter what was happening, and she replied that the man had forced her to have sex with him.

The mother then called the police who arrested the man.

In a separate incident, a 39-year-old man was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for raping his 11-year-old granddaughter in the Emseleni area in KwaZulu-Natal earlier this month.

Police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said investigations by the Empangeni Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit had resulted in the arrest of the accused in 2008.

Similarly, a 23-year old Soweto man was arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl.

The girl’s mother reported her missing in September after she failed to return home from the shop earlier that day.

The man was arrested after he was found with the girl at his house.
