A man was arrested in Noupoort for possession of 25 kilograms of raw platinum worth an estimated R214,000, Northern Cape police said on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old was arrested on Monday afternoon when his bakkie was pulled over during a road block on the N10, said Lieutenant Olebogeng Tawana.

“Upon investigation and search, 25kgs of raw platinum were found hidden under the seat of the vehicle,” said Tawana.

The man would appear in the Noupoort Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday and would face charges of illegal possession of raw platinum.
