Two bakkies collided head-on on the N14 outside Upington on Sunday night, ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said in a statement.

“When ER24 paramedics, as well as other services, arrived on scene, they were greeted by a mass casualty incident. Two bakkies lay mangled on the side of the road.

“On assessment, paramedics discovered that three men had unfortunately succumbed to their injuries,” said Meiring.

“Six other occupants from the vehicles sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical.”

The injured were taken to Doctor Harry Surtie Hospital. The cause of the accident was not known.
