“Three people were found dead and an inquest docket was opened for them,” Warrant officer Kay Makhubela said.

The bodies were retrieved around 6pm.

Johannesburg emergency services spokesman Robert Mulaudzi said earlier that the bodies were discovered by security officials working in the area.

The building, an old power station behind the landmark Orlando towers, collapsed in June.

Officials found out about the collapse when paramedics received a call from an injured man who claimed to have been part of a group allegedly trying to steal cables and metal from the building.

Makhubela said a total of thirteen people have been found in the building. Eight bodies were recovered and five people were found alive.
