Man dies in Phillipi shack fire

A man has been killed in a shack fire in Phillipi, the city of Cape Town said on Saturday.

He was found at 4.20am on Saturday, spokesman Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said in a statement.

The fire destroyed three shacks and left three others displaced.

In a separate incident, another fire swept through a shack around 2.28am along Lansdowne Road in Philippi.

No one was injured, but two people were displaced.

The cause of both fires were unknown.

Solomons-Johannes said the displaced people would be attended to.
