On Thursday morning, a white BMW 3 Series with five men drove into the A and J Autoworld parking lot, blocking a brand new Audi A5 in a parking bay, according to Roodepoort Record.
Two of the men proceeded to get out of the BMW and pulled the Audi driver out of his vehicle. One of the suspects got into the vehicle and tried to start it, but couldn’t find the keys.
Following a shoot-out with owner Johan van Rensburg the suspects drove off.
Footage of the attempted hijacking and shoot-out were captured by the neighbouring Hyundai dealership, and provided to police.
The suspects were said to have been dressed in dark clothing, while wearing masks and beanies.
In a separate incident, Lyttelton police are searching for two armed men after a man was hijacked in his driveway in Centurion on Tuesday morning.
The hijacking occurred on Papierbas Street when the man reversed out of his yard in a gold Nissan Qashqai. Investigations are underway.
