Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann said a car rear-ended a stationary bakkie which left one dead and three injured.

“Upon their arrival on scene they found that a motor vehicle had rear-ended a light delivery vehicle resulting in a man tragically losing his life and another man and woman found to be in a critical condition,” said Steinmann.

The two critically injured were then airlifted to hospital.

Another person was seriously injured and was transported by another emergency service, Steinmann added.

The accident cause heavy delay coming in and out of Krugersdorp on the N14. The latest report suggested the roads has been re-opened between Krugersdorp and Muldersdrift, but that massive tailbacks had yet to clear.
