Seven suspects, former crime intelligence cop’s wife in dock for his murder

The wife made her first appearance in court last Wednesday for the alleged murder of her husband.

The wife of former crime intelligence officer Major-General Hendrick Mogoerane will on Monday appear before the Kempton Park Magistrates’ Court for a formal bail application in connection with his murder.

Cordelia Mogoerane made her first appearance in court last Wednesday for the alleged murder of her husband.

She was arrested on Monday after police uncovered evidence linking her to the murder, and will appear with seven other suspects aged between 31 and 70.

Mogoerane’s body was found in the backseat of his car in Norkem Park, east of Johannesburg, in January. Investigators are still waiting for the postmortem results to determine the cause of death, as no visible injuries were found on his body.

Mogoerane worked at the South African Police Service’s head office of the crime intelligence unit before retiring in 2017.
