Divorce affects black children most in SA – Stats SA

Figures released show that in 2016 divorces affected more than 10 000 black children and only 1 254 Indian minors.

Statistics South Africa (StatsSA) today released a report which indicated that black children are the most affected by divorce.

Figures released show that in 2016 divorces affected more than 10 000 black children and only 1 254 Indian minors.

The report also shows that 4 933 coloured and 4 561 white children were affected by their parents’ divorce in the same period.

South Africa’s population stands at about 55 million. At the last census in 2011 they were about 41 million blacks, 4,5 million whites, 4,6 million coloured and 1,3 million Indians (Asians).
