Responsible leadership is needed for a better future for all South Africans, former auditor general Terence Nombembe said on Wednesday.

“It is imperative for government and business to partner in developing a brighter future for all South Africans through responsible leadership and committed effort,” he said in a statement, reacting to President Jacob Zuma’s newly-appointed Cabinet.

Nombembe, who is the CEO of the SA Institute of Chartered Accountants (Saica), welcomed the appointments.

He said Saica was committed to working with the new administration in the areas of skills development, audit, financial reporting, tax, and facilitating good governance.

“Saica is committed to working side by side with the new administration to facilitate skills development, economic growth, and financial capacity-building to ensure better service delivery and a prosperous future for all South Africans,” he said.

Saica had been working with government on several projects, including capacity-building at Further Education and Training (FET) colleges, skills development projects, enterprise development, and training accounting technicians.
