Johannesburg man in critical condition after being knocked off bike

The accident happened at the Zulu and De Wet roads intersection.

A man has been critically injured after he was knocked off his mountain bike in Northcliff, Johannesburg, on Tuesday morning.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said the accident happened at the Zulu and De Wet roads intersection.

Paramedics arrived on scene where they found the man, believed to be in his forties, lying in front of a bakkie parked in the middle of the intersection.

“Paramedics immediately assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous serious injuries which left him in a critical condition.Treatment and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated, in an effort to stabilise the patient. Once treated, the man was transported to a private hospital in Johannesburg for urgent treatment.”

Meiring said the driver of the bakkie was uninjured. Local authorities have yet to establish the cause of the accident.
