16 injured in Alberton taxi collision

Local authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.

Sixteen people were injured Tuesday morning when a taxi rolled along the R59, near the Swartkoppies Road in Alberton, ER24 reports.

Spokesperson Russel Meiring said the passengers were found “lying outside the taxi”.

Meiring said paramedics assessed the patients and found that two had sustained critical injuries while 14 others had sustained minor to moderate injuries.

“Once treated, the two critically injured patients were transported to Baragwanath Hospital while the remaining patients were transported to various provincial hospitals.”

Local authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
