Twenty eight sheep were stolen from a farm in Phuthaditjhaba in the Free State, police said on Saturday.

“It is alleged that on May 16… the shepherd went to bed and realised only in the morning that they [the sheep] are missing,” said police spokesman Sergeant Mmako Mophiring.

It was believed the sheep were loaded on a heavy vehicle during the night and taken away.

No arrests have been made.

Police have opened a case of stock theft.
