The African National Congress (ANC) in North West welcomes the resolution made by South Africa’s ruling party during its national conference to expropriate land without compensation, provincial secretary Dakota Legoete said on Thursday.
“We commend conference for resolving that the ANC should, as a matter of policy, pursue expropriation of land without compensation. This should be pursued without destabilising the agricultural sector, without endangering food security and without undermining economic growth and job creation,” he said.
He said the province was also proud that five of its members made it into the National Executive Committee (NEC).
“The ANC in Bokone Bophirima [North West] is pleased that five of its members were elected to the ANC NEC whose term starts now until December 2022. We congratulate our fellow comrades and thank ANC delegates who believed in their leadership capabilities,” he said.
The five were Legoete, ANC Youth League president, Collen Maine, Environmental Affairs Minister Edna Molewa, MP Pinky Moloi and National Council of Provinces, chairperson Thandi Modise.
The 54th national conference of the ANC was held in Nasrec, Johannesburg from December 16 to 20.
