Man pronounced dead following diving incident

The details surrounding the incident were not yet known.

A man was pronounced dead on Monday morning following a diving incident at Warner Beach in Durban South, KwaZulu-Natal, ER24 said in a statement.

“ER24 arrived at the beach at 09h00, and were informed that a diving boat was bringing a patient to the beach,” ER24 spokesperson Russell Meiring said.

“After a short time, a boat arrived on the beach. A male, believed to be in his 60s, was found lying inside, motionless.”

Meiring said paramedics and lifeguards assessed the man, and found that he showed no signs of life.

“CPR and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated in an effort to revive the patient.”

“Unfortunately, after some time, no vital signs returned, and the man was pronounced dead.”

Meiring said the details surrounding the incident were not yet known, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
