A 44-year-old man charged with distributing pornography featuring his eight-year-old twin daughters is expected to appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
The man, who is from Lorraine in Port Elizabeth, cannot be named to protect the identity of his children.
The father of the twin girls faces three charges relating to the creation, distribution, and possession of child pornography, which is a schedule five offence. He was arrested in November last year by members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) family violence, child protection, and sexual offences unit.
He allegedly took photographs of his daughters while they were naked and distributed the images online.
The charge sheet also states the accused was allegedly found in possession of child and baby pornography stored on his laptop computer. He is out on bail of R10,000.
In another related incident, a Port Elizabeth woman accused of being part of a syndicate that distributed images of babies being sexually exploited is expected to appear in the city’s magistrate’s court on Monday.
The 22-year-old woman, from Westering, is alleged to be part of an international child pornography ring that distributed footage of babies and newborns being sexually exploited.
An investigating team in Johannesburg is working together with the United States’ FBI and the Belgian police.
Charges against her relate to importing, possessing, and distributing films or publications containing depictions or descriptions which encourage or promote child pornography or the sexual exploitation of children.
