Fire & Rescue service rally together to put out Table Mountain fire

A helicopter has been deployed to help firefighters extinguish a blaze which broke out on the slopes of Table Mountain near the 12 Apostles Hotel in the Bakoven area on Thursday.

The City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Service Service have deployed four fire engines, four water tenders as well as a rescue vehicle with 30 firefighters on board.

Cape Town Fire’s Divisional Commander, Edward Bosch, said: “The fire is being fanned by a strong South Westerly wind and is mostly inaccessible at this stage.”

“[SA] National Parks is in attendance and working with hand tools. The cause of the fire is undetermined,” Bosch said.
