Three armed men poured boiling water on a man and made off with an undisclosed amount of money during a robbery in Elandsrand near Brits, North West police said on Tuesday.

Warrant Officer Mpeile Talene said the robbery happened on Monday night at around 11pm.

“The complainant alleged that she was with her friend (the man), preparing to get into the house when suddenly three armed men attacked and forced them inside the house where they were allegedly tied with a wire on the hands and poured with hot boiling water by the suspects whom demanded cash and valuable properties from the victims,” he said.

“The complainant alleged that [the] suspects managed to reach the safe where [an] undisclosed amount of money [in US dollars notes] was taken and a Samsung Television worth R19,000, the victim’s car and house keys [were also taken] by the suspects…”

The 59-year-old man was taken to a hospital in Brits.

Talene said that no arrests have been made and urged people with information to trace the three men to contact the Brits police.
