Woman, baby injured as car rolls in Johannesburg

A woman and a baby were injured when she lost control of her car and it rolled on the N1/N17 in Maraisburg, Johannesburg on Saturday afternoon, paramedics said.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at about 4.30pm and found the baby had already been removed from the car, ER24 spokeswoman Ineke van Huyssteen said.

The baby girl sustained only minor injuries, but the woman was still trapped in the car and rescuers had to use the jaws-of-life to free her. Paramedics found her to be in a serious condition.

The woman was airlifted to hospital by the ER24 Oneplan helicopter for further medical care. ER24 also transported the baby to hospital. The cause of the crash was not yet known, Van Huyssteen said.
